Geneseo wins 2018 SUNYAC Women's Soccer Championship

GENESEO, N.Y. - The Geneseo Knights defeated the Cortland Red Dragons, 1-0, in the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's soccer championship to make them back-to-back champions.

This is Geneseo's eighth SUNYAC title and the program's fourth title under head coach Nate Wiley (2009, 2014, 2017). Geneseo earns an automatic-qualifying bid for the NCAA tournament.

Geneseo's lone goal in the championship was scored by junior forward Domenica Piccoli in the 61st minute. Sarah Loprieno, a junior midfielder, fired a shot on goal that was deflected by Piccoli, past the goalkeeper, and into the back of the net. 

The Knights took 21 shots win seven shots on goal and they limited Cortland to zero shots.

Women's Soccer Elite 20

Jennifer Moran from Geneseo was awarded the SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program. The award recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. Moran maintains a 3.98 grade point average in business administration.
