Five SUNYAC women's soccer teams earn United Soccer Coaches Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo.– Five State University of New York (SUNYAC) women's soccer teams were recently honored by United Soccer Coaches with the 2018 Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award.

A total of 167 college soccer teams across the country were recipients of the award, for exhibiting fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game. The award is given to United Soccer Coaches members at four levels. Teams honored at the platinum level went an entire season without a player or coach receiving a yellow card or red card. Teams honored at the gold (1-10%), silver (11-30%) and bronze (31-50%) levels are based on a percentage calculated by the total number of cards received by players/coaches divided by the team's total number of games played.

Geneseo and Fredonia's women's soccer teams were among the 19 programs to be recognized at the gold level, while Oneonta, Plattsburgh, and Oswego's women's soccer teams were among 55 programs honored at the silver level.
