Plattsburgh's Bonner and Villemaire sweep PrestoSports Women's Soccer Weekly Awards

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York (SUNYAC) have selected Kirsten Villemaire (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) and Sarah Bonner (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) as this week's PrestoSports Women's Soccer  and Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.  

Bonner, the senior defender was part of Plattsburgh State's defensive unit that tallied its second shutout of the season with a 5-0 win over Colby-Sawyer on Tuesday. The Cardinals limited the Chargers to five shots overall and two shots on goal. Bonner also tallied a career-high three assists, including an assist on the game-winning goal. With her three helpers, Bonner leads all SUNYAC defenders with eight points this season. She is tied for second among all SUNYAC student-athletes with four assists in 2019.

Villemaire, the sophomore forward recorded her first collegiate hat trick and tallied one assist for a career-high seven points in Plattsburgh State's 5-0 home win over Colby-Sawyer on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Villemaire scored the Cardinals' second, third and fourth goals of the match, and she assisted on the fifth goal. Villemaire's performance moved her into a tie for third place in goals in the SUNYAC, while moving her into fourth place in points. Plattsburgh will go on to face Fredonia and Buffalo State in this coming week.
