CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) selects Jaden Galluzzo (Commack, N.Y.) of Cortland and Taylor Clar (Scottsville, N.Y.) of Geneseo as this week's PrestoSports Women's Soccer Athletes of the Week. Galluzzo is this week's Offensive Athlete of the Week and while Clar is being awarded Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Galluzzo recorded seven points on three goals and one assist in a 2-1 week for the Red Dragons. In a 2-1 non-conference home setback versus Nazareth on Tuesday, Galluzzo scored Cortland's goal on a breakaway in the fourth minute to tie the game at 1-1. She then tallied one goal and one assist in a 4-0 conference win at New Paltz on Friday, netting her goal in the 68th minute and assisting on the game winner in the 20th minute. Galluzzo concluded her week with the game-winning goal in the 21st minute in a 1-0 win at Oneonta on Saturday. For the season, Galluzzo has 14 points on five goals and four assists.
Clar played a vital role in the Knights' two conference victories. Against Fredonia, she came up from her defensive position to score the game-winning goal on a header off a corner kick with under 15 minutes to go, leading Geneseo to a 2-1 victory. She then anchored the Geneseo defense as it held Buffalo State to just five shots in a 3-0 shutout, the Knights' seventh shutout of the season and fourth in six games against conference opponents.
