Dean and Portalatin earn weekly PrestoSports Women's Soccer Awards

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) would like to announce this week's women's soccer honors. Lexi Dean (Schenectady, N.Y.) and Sophia Portalatin (Staten Island, N.Y.) earn Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week respectively.

Dean scored four of the Bears' five goals in a 2-0 weekend to help Potsdam clinch it's third straight playoff appearance. She scored two goals in the Bears' dramatic 3-2 double-overtime victory against Oneonta on Friday. It was the program's first win against the Red Dragons since 1994. On Saturday, she single handedly erased a 1-0 deficit with two goals in Potsdam's 2-1 playoff-clinching win. She leads the SUNYAC in scoring with 14 goals and eight assists for 36 points.

Portalatin led the Lakers to a 1-1 finish this weekend against Fredonia and Buffalo State. The Junior recorded eight saves against Fredonia, as well as earning another eight saves in the Lakers win over Buffalo State. The Staten Island native recorded her second shutout of her career and second of the season against Buffalo State on Saturday, which was also good for Oswego's second shutout of the season.
