GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's soccer team will take on Mary Washington in the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament as the field was announced Monday afternoon.

The Knights will battle the Eagles on Saturday, Nov. 16, in a game hosted by William Smith. The Herons will host Utica in the other game in the pod with the winners of each game facing each other in the second round on Sunday, Nov. 17.

Geneseo (15-3-1) received an at-large bid after falling to State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Champion Cortland, 1-0, in overtime Saturday. Geneseo will be making its eighth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and its third in a row.

The Knights fell to Stevens, 1-0, in overtime in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last season after earning an automatic bid as 2018 SUNYAC Champions. Geneseo won two home games to kick off the 2017 tournament, including a 1-0 double-overtime victory over Misericordia to advance to the "Sweet 16" for the second time in program history. The Knights advanced as far as the national semifinals in 1994, defeating Skidmore in a first round penalty shootout, Ithaca, 1-0, in overtime, and William Smith in another penalty shootout before falling to the eventual NCAA Champion Trenton State (now TCNJ) in the final four.
