Bennett Named 2022 SUNYAC Women's Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC recognizes Geneseo's Angel Bennett as the 2022 Women's Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year as nominated and voted on by the conference sports information directors. 

Bennett recorded a 3.86 GPA as a Biology major during her senior season with the Knights. She was named to the All-SUNYAC first-team after posting nine solo shutouts in addition to two combined shutouts for Geneseo this season. Bennett tallied 53 saves this season and a save percentage of .828. She also made a pair of saves during penalty kicks to help Geneseo secure the championship victory over Cortland to win its 10th overall SUNYAC title.

During each season, the conference honors student-athletes for their efforts in their sport, as well as their academics. In order to be eligible for the SUNYAC Scholar Athlete of the Year award student-athletes must prove both academic and athletic excellence by obtaining a minimum 3.30 overall GPA, be a starter or significant reserve for their team, and be at least a sophomore. The SUNYAC Scholar Athlete Award began in 2016-17.
