SUNYAC selects first Women's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has made its first selections for Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week for the 2017-18 season.

Oswego's Megan Maquet (Long Beach, N.Y.) was dominant in Oswego's first two competitions of the season, earning Diver of the Week honors for the conference. In the Lakers' season opener against R.I.T., Maquet took first place in the 1 meter dive with a score of 203.90. In the second meet of the season, a 128-115 win over Oneonta, the sophomore placed first in the 3 meter dive with a score of 197.95.

Marissa Kordal (Eden, N.Y.), a freshaman at Cortland, took Swimmer of the Week honors for her efforts at Cortland's Pumpkin Relays. She swam on two winning relays and one second-place finish at the meet. Kordal was part of the victorious 500-yard freestyle relay (4:50.82) and the 3x100-yard butterfly relay (3:07.43), and she swam a leg on the runner-up 200-yard medley relay (1:54.23). Her efforts helped Cortland finish first out of six schools in the final team standings.
