SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected New Paltz's Laura Koob as this week's Women's Tennis Singles Athlete of the Week while Brockport's Linda Coleman Lawrence and Andrea Banke were named the Doubles Team of the Week.
Koob not only helped the Hawks to a 8-3 win in first doubles, but she was moved up in the lineup to first singles against Oneonta Sunday. Playing against Olivia Fraser, Koob came back to win in a tie-breaker, 6-0, 5-6, 13-11 after falling behind in the third set to earn the win. New Paltz is the top seed in the East division going into the SUNYAC championship.
Coleman Lawrence and Andrea Banke teamed up for a 2-0 week in doubles play for Brockport. The duo won its matchup 8-4 against Fredonia, helping the team get its first win of the season. In a close loss to Oswego, the pairing earned another win in doubles, 8-5.
