Women's indoor track and field first 2017 weekly awards released

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has picked its first Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week of the 2017 season.

Geneseo's junior Shayna Held (Wantagh, N.Y.) was picked as the Field Athlete of the Week after she finished second in the pentathlon at the Brockport Invitational on Friday. Only finishing behind a competitor from a Canadadian University, her 3,192 points is currently the top mark in Division III this season. It was also only 24 points off the school record she set last season.

Plattsburgh's sophomore Elisabeth Plympton was named the Track Athlete of the Week as she finished first in the 60-meter dash at the Saints Holiday Relays with a time of 7.93 seconds, and in prelims, she clocked an AARC-qualifying time of 7.91. She picked up another first-place finish in the 200-meter dash with another AARC mark with of 26.36 seconds.
