Kordrupel and Capestrani Selected as Women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week

Cortland, NY - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected the top women's indoor track and field athletes of the week. The winners were selected from top nominations made by conference members.

Junior Ronni Kordrupel from Buffalo State is this week's womens track athlete of the week. Kordrupel broke her own school record in the mile by nearly three seconds, posting a winning time of 5:10.32 at the Brockport Golden Eagle Invitational, the final meet before next week's SUNYAC Indoor Championships which will be held at the same venue. She also placed fourth in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:33.36.

Senior Mikayla Capestrani from Fredonia is this week's womens field athlete of the week. She broke Fredonia's indoor pole vault record for the second straight weekend. She cleared 11 feet, 11 3/4 inches -- four inches higher than seven days earlier at Tiffin, Ohio -- to finish second, first among NCAA Division 3 women, at Cornell University's Marc Deneault Invitational on Saturday. She also moved to No. 16 on the NCAA Division 3 indoor performance list this winter.
