First Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week announced

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Plattsburgh's Elisabeth Plympton (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) as the Track Athlete of the Week and Geneseo's Emily Lavarnway (Ovid, N.Y. / South Seneca) as the Field Athlete of the Week.

Plympton ran two races during the week, she placed second in the 60-meter with a time of 7.98 seconds and she won the 300-meter with a time of 42.82 seconds. Plympton's time of 7.98 seconds in the 60-meter was good enough to qualify her for both the All-Atlantic Region track and field championships and the SUNYAC championships. She is currently ranked first in the SUNYAC in the 60 and 300 meter races.

Lavarnway, a Geneseo sophomore, won the pentathlon at the Brockport Alumni Invitational, compiling a program record 3,568 points to finish in first out of 20 competitors. Her mark is currently first in Division III.
