CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announces its PrestoSports Women's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 6-12. Plattsburgh teammates Janyll Barber (Dannemora, N.Y.) and Brianna Coon (Plattsburgh, N.Y.) have been named the Track and Field Athletes respectively.
Barber posted three SUNYAC Championship qualifying marks at the Middlebury Winter Classic on Saturday. On the track, Barber won the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.64 and placed sixth out of 26 competitors in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.38. In the long jump, she finished second with a leap of 4.91 meters (16' 1.5"). Barber's 400-meter dash time currently leads the SUNYAC.
Coon posted a pair of AARTFC and SUNYAC qualifying marks at the Middlebury Winter Classic on Saturday. She won the weight throw with a mark of 15.00 meters (49' 2.5") and took second in the shot put (11.58 meters - 38'). That weight throw mark currently stands as the top performance in the SUNYAC so far this year.
