SUNYAC announces Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y - The State University of New York Athletic Conference is happy to announce this weeks Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week. This weeks Track Athlete of the Week is Stephanie Boucher from Plattsburgh, and the Field Athlete of the Week is Tylea McCarthy-Walker from Oswego. 

Stephanie Boucher placed 11th in the 800-meter dash at the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell University on Sunday. Boucher ran the 800 in a time of 2:15.40 to qualify for the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference meet. She was the top DIII athlete in the 800, is currently first in the SUNYAC and top 20 nationally. She also placed second in the 400-meter dash on Saturday at the Bronco Classic hosted by Delhi with a time of 1:00.12.

Tylea McCarthy-Walker dominated the long jump at the Cortland Please Stop Snowing Challenge on Friday. McCarthy-Walker cruised to a first place finish with an outstanding distance of 5.72 meters in the event, finishing nearly two feet farther over the runner-up. That distance is the fifth best in the country this season, 10 spots higher than the next-best SUNYAC long jump competitor. The sophomore's 5.72 meter mark also set a new school record and was a personal best as well.
