Women's Track & Field Weekly Awards Released

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has named Emily Pomainville from Geneseo the Women's Track Athlete of the Week for the third time in 2021 and Alayna Fredenburg from Brockport the Field Athlete of the Week.

Pomainville continued her outstanding senior campaign on Saturday at the Geneseo May Meet, posting top times in two events. Already having posted the nation's top time in the 1500 earlier in the season, Pomainville recorded the second-fastest mark in NCAA Division III in the 5000, crossing in 16:29.80. She joined seniors Emily Lavarnway and Jenna Strickland along with junior Madison Mulder to turn in the nation's top time in the 4x400 relay, finishing in 3:44.83, setting a SUNYAC and Geneseo record as well.

Fredenburg posted a massive PR in the hammer throw as she placed first with a toss of 52.46m. Her throw now ranks third all-time at Brockport and it is the first time she has broken 50 meters in the hammer. Fredenburg also placed first in the javelin throw with a toss of 38.75m. She even took second in the shot put event with a distance of 11.16 meters.
