Cergol repeats as SUNYAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. – For the second week in a row and fourth time this season, the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Grace Cergol of Geneseo as this week's Volleyball Athlete of the Week. 

The Knights went 3-1 this week as they beat Houghton before they hosted SUNYAC pool play defeating Cortland and Buffalo State, while losing a close match against Brockport.

Cergol set the stat sheet ablaze this week with 69 kills, 4.6 kills per set, 50 digs, and 73.5 points. In the battle against fellow conference powerhouse, Brockport, she had a total of 30 kills, which is tied for the fourth-highest total in a five-set match in all of Division III this season. Cergol currently leads the SUNYAC in kills with 346, kills per set with 4.55, points with 382 and points per set with 5.0. 

At 16-6 overall and 5-1 in conference play, Geneseo currently sits second, right behind Brockport in the SUNYAC volleyball standings. The Knights travel to Rochester this weekend to compete in the RIT Invitational where they'll face Vassar, RIT and Nazareth before they head out to Oneonta the following weekend for SUNYAC pool play competition against Fredonia, Oneonta and Oswego.
