CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected the recipients for the weekly women's volleyball awards. Oneonta sophomore Clara Culeton has been picked as the Offensive Athlete of the Week, while Brockport senior Maddy Taylor is the Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Culeton helped pace the Red Dragons to a 3-1 record this week with wins over Hilbert, SUNY Poly, and King's College. Culeton finished the week with a .521 hitting percentage with 41 kills, averaging 3.42 kills per set. Clara also contributed eight blocks and four service aces.
Brockport's Taylor played a big part on the defense for the Golden Eagles this past week, helping them notch a 2-2 week. In the first game of the week, the senior recorded nine digs, two assists and one service ace in an easy 3-0 victory over Alfred. The next two match-ups over the weekend saw Taylor collect 28 digs and two assists. Finally, in a five set thriller, Taylor had 24 digs and two service aces. In total, she finished with 61 digs for an average of 4.36 digs per set, four assists and three service aces.
