Cergol, Fellone named Women's Volleyball Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference has selected the recipients for its weekly women's volleyball awards. Geneseo junior Grace Cergol has been tabbed as the Offensive Athlete of the Week, while New Paltz junior Nicole Fellone is the Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Cergol became the first player in Geneseo history to compile 1,000 career kills and digs while leading the Knights to a 3-0 record in SUNYAC Pool Play this past week. She totaled 13 kills and a .346 hitting percentage along with eight digs (including her 1,000th) in the team's 3-0 sweep of host Potsdam on Friday. She then compiled 17 kills and .395 hitting percentage with nine digs in a 3-0 sweep of Oswego and then a match-high 19 kills in the Knights' 3-2 win over Oneonta on Saturday. Cergol currently leads the SUNYAC with 203 kills and 4.14 kills per set and also ranks 10th with 3.18 digs per set. 

Meanwhile, Fellone led the Hawks with 49 digs through the four games, including 22 digs against defending conference champions, Brockport to help with a 3-0 sweep. SUNY New Paltz didn't drop a set through three games over the weekend.
