CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Cross Country Senior Spotlight is on Geneseo's Mariellen Penzer this week.
In 2019 Penzer finished second in the SUNYAC women's cross country championship to lead the Knights to their 19th overall title. She was the Knights' fourth finisher at the NCAA Division III Championships, taking 131st overall as the team earned its sixth-consecutive top-10 finish at the national championship. Head Coach Dan Moore has described Penzer as an excellent teammate and captain, a selfless leader who is always willing to sacrifice her needs for the betterment of the team. Hailing from Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Penzer is a business administration major at Geneseo.
