GENESEO MEN'S ICE HOCKEY HOSTS FIFTH-ANNUAL TEDDY BEAR TOSS

GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo men's ice hockey team and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted the Fifth-Annual Teddy Bear Toss during the Knights' game versus Potsdam last Friday night.

All fans were welcomed to throw a new or gently-used stuffed animal on the ice following Geneseo's first goal of the evening, which came when senior forward David Ripple scored with 16:18 on the clock in the first period. Junior Ice Knights assisted SAAC representatives in gathering the bears and cleaning the ice once the goal was scored.

Over 470 bears and $350 in donations were collected at the event and will be donated to Catholic Charities of Livingston County and Focus on the Children.

"I thought the Teddy Bear Toss was an extremely successful event with all the bears and donations we were able to collect for local charities," said women's lacrosse head coach and SAAC supervisor Carly Ritchlin. "The committee was exceptional in that they all showed up and did their jobs to ensure the night ran smoothly. All those involved were very enthusiastic about helping out for the cause and had a great time as well. The whole event just went really well."

The No. 12/14 Knights went on to defeat the visiting Bears, 6-2, led by two goals and an assist by junior forward Trevor Hills and two goals by first-year forward Brodie Tutton.
