Southwestern softball wins all four games in Florida

GEORGETOWN, Texas - It has been a productive spring break for Head Coach Angela Froboese and the Southwestern Pirates softball team as they went 4-0 at The Spring Games in Florida.

Southwestern used a steady stream of runs to defeat Oswego State and scored the game winner with a single by Celeste Silvas in the bottom of the seventh.

The Pirates just got stronger on day one, posting seven runs in the first two innings against Anderson. Anderson added two in the fifth but SU responded with two of their own in the sixth to secure the run rule victory. Sydney Scott was a perfect 4-4 in the game to lead Southwestern at the plate.

After a day of JV action Southwestern returned to the field and took a while getting their bats going. They were held scoreless until the sixth inning where they scored two and added two more in the seventh to defeat Endicott 4-0. Chandler Smith got the complete game shutout on the mound.

In the final game of the trip Fitchburg State got on the board first with one run to open the game, but Lindsey Longuet was nearly untouchable the rest of the way as she held them scoreless for the remainder of the game, allowing the three Southwestern runs to holdup for the win.

Southwestern improves to 11-9 on the year and extend their win streak to eight. They return to Texas to face Our Lady of the Lake in San Antonio on Wednesday, March 29th for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
