Buffalo State Tops Brockport in SUNYAC Action at Home

BROCKPORT, NY – The College at Brockport women's basketball team snapped a two-game SUNYAC winning streak on Tuesday night as the Golden Eagles lost to visiting Buffalo State 68-54. 

It was a group effort on the offensive end for the Golden Eagles as nine different players scored in the contest.  Julianna Taylor, Kylee Rosbrook and Zaria McCullough each posted eight points to lead Brockport.  Buffalo State's Liv LeBaron led all scorers with 20 points, 12 rebounds and five assists.  Tori Hackett chipped in with 16 points and six rebounds for the Bengals.

Brockport's record fell to 5-7 overall and 2-3 in SUNYAC play, while the visitors improved to 6-5 overall and 2-2 in SUNYAC play. 

Freshman Serena Sordetto netted a career-high seven points in the contest for the Golden Eagles.  Classmate Anna Felice came up just one point shy of her career-best as she totaled seven points. 

Five first quarter 3-pointers for the Bengal's highlighted a 16-14 lead after 10 minutes of action for the visitors.  Brockport opened the second quarter with a 6-3 run in a span of 2:01 to make the score 20-19 in favor of the visitors.

Julianna Taylor and Kylee Rosbrook led the way for the Golden Eagles with six points each in the first half.  Seven different Golden Eagles scored at least one basket in the first half of play. Brockport was 5-for-9 from the floor and posted 10 defensive rebounds in the second quarter to help keep the game within two points, 28-26, at the half. 

Buffalo State went 7-for-16 from 3-point land in the first half to account for 21 of their 28 total points in the first 20 minutes of action.

The Bengals used a 21-10 run in the first 7:10 of the second half to take a 49-36 lead with 2:36 to go in the third quarter.  Brockport rallied with an 8-2 run in a span of 1:08 to end the third quarter of play down by just seven points 51-44. The visitors got hot once again in the fourth quarter as they used a 17-7 run in a span of 6:44 to take a 68-51 lead with 3:05 left in regulation. 

Brockport returns home on Friday and Saturday for SUNYAC action when the Golden Eagles take on Oneonta (5:30 p.m.) and New Paltz (2 p.m.) in consecutive days. Tuesday night began a stretch of three straight home conference games for Brockport.
