The Red Dragons improved to 8-7-1 overall and 4-6 in the conference and ran their unbeaten streak to six gams (5-0-1). The conference-leading Lakers dropped to 8-8 overall and 6-2 in league play.

Senior Douglas Elgstam (Stockholm, Sweden/New Jersey Rockets) and junior Logan Blaser (Aurora, ON/Brockville Braves) also netted goals for Cortland with Blaser adding an assist. Senior Sean Perichak (Oakville, ON/Markham Royals), juniors Alex Storjohann (Phoenix, AZ/Kirkland Lake) and Tommy Ritchie (Spencerport/New York PAL Islanders) and freshman Matt Jahn (Richmond, VA/Charlotte Rush) each added an assist. Senior goalie Nick Modica (Suffern/New Jersey Hitmen) made 34 saves.

Senior Josh Zizek (St. Catharine's/Nepean Raiders) registered a goal and an assist for Oswego. Sophomore Tyson Kirkby (Prescott, ON/Brockville Braves) netted a goal, sophomore Travis Broughman (Mechanicsville, VA/Carleton Place Canadians) picked up two assists and junior Carson Vance (Tempe, AZ/Western Michigan University) chipped in with an assist. Senior goalie David Richer (Mirabel, QC/Kingston Voyageurs) stopped 25 shots.

Elgstam gave Cortland the lead at 9:08 of the first period, scoring on a rebound after Richer made a stop on Perichak's initial shot. Zizek tied the score 1:28 later on a wrist shot from deep on the left side, and Kirkby put the Lakers ahead, 2-1, with a power-play goal at 13:16 of the first period.

After a scoreless second period, the Red Dragons tied the score at 13:16 of the third period on Blaser's eighth goal of the season, a wrist shot through traffic from the left point on the power play. Late in overtime, Cortland gained the offensive zone and kept the puck in deep where Lavallee knocked a shot off an Oswego defender and past Richer for the game winner.
