Potsdam shoots past Men’s Basketball, 99-75

BUFFALO, N.Y.— Potsdam outscored the Bengals 54-31 in the first half, by shooting nearly 64 percent from the floor, en route to a 99-75 victory over host Buffalo State in SUNYAC action this afternoon in the Sports Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sheldon Adams (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) led the Bengals with 24 points to go along with eight rebounds.
  • Kay Grant (Jamaica/Thomas Jefferson) chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Jordan Christopher (Bronx/Mott Haven Campus) matched his 12 rebounds and tallied five points.
  • Aaron Davis (Beacon/Beacon) added nine points and a team-high seven assists.
  • Potsdam sprinted out to an early 24-8 lead over the span of first eight minutes of action.
  • Buffalo State trimmed the deficit to 34-22 on a layup by Adams with 7:15 left in the stanza, but it was the closest the Bengals came as the Bears claimed a 54-31 halftime lead.
  • The Bengals cut the lead to under 20 points at multiple occasions in the second half but could not complete the comeback as Potsdam cruised for the conference victory.
  • Potsdam outscored Buffalo State 21-8 on points off of turnovers and 50-34 in points in the paint.
  • The Bengals finished with an 18-14 advantage in second-chance points.
 
FOR THE FOES
  • Isaiah Brown led the Bears with 25 points and 13 rebounds, while Tyrese Baptiste chipped in 14 points and 14 rebounds.
  • Jayquan Thomas added 20 points, six assists and six rebounds.
