CORTLAND, N.Y.— Cortland tallied the game-winner with just over three minutes remaining in the first overtime to capture a 2-1 victory over visiting Buffalo State in a SUNYAC contest this afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Buffalo State and Cortland matched each other shot-for-shot in the first half, but each team failed to break through as the score remained level at halftime.
- The Bengals finally broke the deadlock as Erin Valente (Latham/Shaker) scored her fifth goal of the season on a rebound shot, off an assist from Allie Reeds (E. Amherst/Williamsville South), in the 51st minute to give Buffalo State a 1-0 lead.
- The Red Dragons evened the score, just under three minutes later, on a rebound shot with an open goal.
- Each team had scoring opportunities late, but neither team produced another goal before the end of regulation to force overtime.
- Cortland was the aggressor early in the extra session, including a shot and two corners in the first three minutes, and capitalized with the game-winning goal in the 97th minute.
- Taylor Carillo (Pine Bush/Pine Bush) finished with six saves in net for the Bengals.
- The Red Dragons finished with a 15-6 shot advantage with an 8-3 edge in shots-on-goal.
