Lakers Buck Mustangs As They Take 12-5 Victory

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's lacrosse team won their third straight game to open the season, this one against the Morrisville State Mustangs. In their 12-5 victory, Caleb Alford had two goals on three shots, along with picking up two assists in the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Oswego came out strong in the first period, posting eight goals to Morrisville's one.
  • Scoring was Weston Gray (2), Sam Meltser (1), Sebastian Gimeli (1), Dan Doolan (1), Kevin Bacon (1), and Brian Kelly (1).
  • Meltser, Gimeli, and Kelly all added their first goals as a Laker.
  • The Lakers scored their eight goals on 11 shots on goal.
  • Oswego doubled the Mustangs shots in the first and second periods, 12-6 and 8-4.
  • Shots on goal at the end of the first half were 18-6 in favor of the Lakers.
  • The score at halftime was 8-1 thanks to Meltser's second goal of the game at the 11:20 mark of the second period.
  • Shots (10) and shots on goal (5) were even in the third period.
  • Doolan, Alford and Eric Kiel added goals in the third period to bring the lead to 12-2 for Oswego.
  • In the fourth period, the Mustangs scored three straight to cut the lead to 12-5 and conclude the scoring.
  • The final shots on goal count was 26-21 in favor of the Lakers.
  • Aiden Kenyon posted six saves for the Lakers, allowing one goal.
  • Teddy Nolan had five saves for the Lakers, allowing three goals.
  • Kevin O'Donnell had five saves, allowing one goal for Oswego.
  • Gray led the Lakers with five shots on goal, followed by Alford, Bacon and Mike Fleming all with three.
  • Senior Tim Schof and Bacon finished the contest with three points a piece.
  • Matthew Danielson, Jack Delany and Jack LaRue also added points for the Lakers.
  • This was Danielson's first point as a Laker along with Jack LaRue.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will travel to Potsdam to take on the Clarkson Golden Knights Tuesday at 4 p.m. for a non-conference matchup.
