Men's Lacrosse Holds Steady in First-Ever Meeting with SUNY Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. (March 7, 2020) – SUNY Delhi men's lacrosse made an unprecedented trip to SUNY Brockport on Saturday for an afternoon meeting against the Golden Eagles. Delhi held its own against a talented Brockport squad in a 15-5 defeat.

Brockport opened with the first five goals, including four in the first quarter, for a 5-0 lead one minute into the second period. Mark Frascello got the Broncos on the board on a man-up opportunity, assisted by Brandon McGrath, with 9:03 remaining before halftime. The Golden Eagles responded with four consecutive goals to close out the half with a 9-1 lead at intermission. Delhi scored three in the third quarter from Frascello's second man-up goal and one score each from Aidan Costello and King White, as Brockport put four on the board to bring its lead up to nine at 13-4. The Golden Eagles put up two more goals in the fourth before Costello provided his second score of the day for the final goal of the afternoon.

Frascello and Costello each had two goals, while McGrath assisted on two scores. White scored one goal, as Mike Kelly totaled one assist. Travis Anderson administered 15 saves on his day in goal. The Broncos came through on 2-of-3 man-up chances, as the defense kept Brockport off the board on its two extra-man opportunities. Brockport led, 49-21, in shots, including 30-12 in shots on goal. The Broncos converted on 21-of-28 clear attempts and won 11 faceoffs. Nick Dower won ten midfield battles, while Nick Scarpa won one.

Head coach Sam Miller's squad begins their NAC season at Maine Maritime next Saturday, Mar. 14 at 12:00 p.m. The Broncos then head over to SUNY New Paltz on Thursday, Mar. 14 at 4:00 p.m., then are home for a NAC matchup with Husson on Saturday, Mar. 21 at 1:00 p.m. at SUNY Oneonta.
