CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh men's hockey team scored three second-period goals in earning a 4-1 victory at Cortland Saturday night in SUNYAC action at Alumni Arena. The Red Dragons dropped to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the conference, while the Cardinals improved to 1-3 overall and in the league.

Nick Modica (Suffern/New Jersey Hitmen) turned aside 30 shots.
Freshman Joe Kile (Troy, MI/Johnstown Tomahawks) registered a goal and an assist for Plattsburgh. Junior Liam Lawson (Vancouver, BC/Powell River Paper Kings) and freshmen Adam Tretowicz (Baldwinsville/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) and Brendan Young (Lefroy, ON/Blind River Beavers) added one goal apiece, and six others chipped in with one assist. Junior goalie Jimmy Poreda (Tonawanda/Connecticut Jr. Rangers) made 22 saves.
After a scoreless first period, Plattsburgh scored two early goals, one with a two-man advantage, and a late goal in the second period to build a 3-0 lead. Cortland cut its deficit to 3-1 at 15:02 of the third period when Blaser knocked in a loose puck. The Red Dragons then pulled Modica with two minutes to play, but Young's empty-net goal for the Cardinals six seconds later sealed the win.
