Bats Come Alive For Cardinals In 11-4 Win Over St. Lawrence

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Junior Jon Craft (Smithtown, N.Y. / Smithtown West) was 4-for-4 at the plate with two runs in Plattsburgh State baseballs 11-4 win over St. Lawrence Wednesday evening at Chip Cummings Field.

Plattsburgh State improves to 7-14 overall while St. Lawrence drops to 2-15.

The Cardinals recorded 14 hits against the Saints including six in the first inning which scored six runs.

Junior Patrick Bryant (Center Moriches, N.Y. / Center Moriches) doubled to right center to score senior Joe Deland (Farmingville, N.Y. / Sachem East) for Plattsburgh States first run.

Sophomore Stephen Bryant (Center Moriches, N.Y. / Center Moriches) hit a two-run single to plate senior Noah Clark (Toms River, N.J. / Toms River East) and P. Bryant for a 3-0 lead.

Freshman Anthony Maag (Center Moriches, N.Y. / Center Moriches) singled to right field to score Craft and S. Bryant scored on a wild pitch.

Freshman Erik Matz (Medford, N.Y. / Patchogue-Medford) hit a single to third base which plated freshman Jack Bermingham (Monroe, N.Y. / Monroe-Woodbury) for a six-run edge.

Deland singled to center field in the third inning to score Bermingham to give the Cardinals their seventh run.

St. Lawrence scored their first run in the top of the fifth off a single to right center.

Bermingham scored again in the bottom of the fifth off an error on the second baseman.

After hitting a triple to center field, sophomore James Hartunian (Delmar, N.Y. / Bethlehem Central) scored off a sacrifice fly from sophomore Jason Fingerhut (Smithtown, N.Y. / Smithtown West).

The Cardinals 10th run came from sophomore Keller Kowalowski (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) with an in the park home run hit to center field.

St. Lawrence scored three runs in the top of the eighth all off walks.

Craft scored Plattsburgh States final run off a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth.

Plattsburgh States defense held off the Saints from scoring anymore runs in the top of the ninth to take the seven run victory.

P. Bryant took the win after pitching two innings and only giving up one hit.

Junior Ryan Whalen (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) pitched two innings and walked two.

Junior Frank Finkbeiner (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) pitched one inning and scattered one hit, one run, walked one and struck out one.

Senior Mitch Crispens (Queensbury, N.Y. / Queensbury) pitched one inning and struck out one.

Freshman Matthew Triola (Saratoga Springs, N.Y. / Saratoga Springs) pitched one inning  and gave up one hit.

Sophomore Alec Fauvell (Smithtown, N.Y. / Smithtown West) pitched .2 innings and scattered one hit, three runs, walked four and struck out one.

Sophomore  Connor Lyons (Brookhaven, N.Y. / Bellport) pitched 1.1 innings, walked three and struck out one.

The Cardinals are on the road Friday to play New Paltz in a SUNYAC game starting at 3 p.m.
