Brockport Handed First SUNYAC Loss of the Season at Potsdam

Potsdam, NY – The College at Brockport men's basketball team suffered its first conference loss of the season Friday night, as it fell to Potsdam, 86-70, on the road.

Justin Summers scored a team-high 19 points on 8-for-14 shooting from the field. Tyler Collins hit four shots from long range on his way to a 16-point night, while Jahidi Wallace added 15 points of his own. Devante Hagins finished with eight points and a game-high 12 rebounds.

Potsdam held the advantage in the first half, going up by 12 points halfway through the first. Brockport was able to cut the lead to 28-23 after a conventional three-point play by Wallace. A 3-pointer from Monte Stroman would tie the score up at 34-34 with less than three minutes until halftime. Potsdam would enter the mid-game break with a four-point lead, as the Green and Gold trailed 41-37.

The Bears held a slight edge throughout the opening minutes, but back-to-back threes and a Justin Summers layup tied the score at 50-50 with 16:26 on the clock. Potsdam jumped back out a double-digit lead shortly after, holding an 11-point lead near the halfway point of the second. Tyler Collins hit four shots from downtown in the second half, but the Golden Eagles couldn't get over the hump to make a comeback. Potsdam went on to take a 16-point victory at home.

Potsdam was led by two 20-point scores in the contest, as Isaiah Brown and Jayquan Thomas combined for 46 points. The Bears are now 7-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Brockport takes its first SUNYAC loss of the year, moving to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the SUNYAC. The Golden Eagles look to bounce back in a quick turnaround for Saturday's game at Plattsburgh.

The Green and Gold will face the Cardinals for more SUNYAC action tomorrow on the road. The game is set to tip-off at 4 pm.
