POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Vassar College men's and women's swimming & diving teams enjoyed outstanding success in tri-meet action on Friday evening at Kresge Pool. The Brewers women posted a 203-76 victory over New Paltz, while defeating Franklin & Marshall by a 172-112 margin. On the men's side, Vassar bested the Hawks, 194-95, but shouldered a tough 165-123 loss to the Diplomats. The women's squad is now 5-1 on the season, while the men move to 3-3 overall.
Action opened in the 200-yard medley relay as the women's foursome of Rhea Randhawa, Stephanie Kaplan, Lillian Lowenthal and Brynn Lautenbacher combined to win with a time of 1:51.84. The men's side saw

Harrison Taylor and
Max White place runner-up with a mark of 1:41.26. The F&M men's team won the event, breaking the Kresge Pool record with a time of 1:38.08. In the women's 1,000-yard freestyle, Vassar's Angharad Healey took second overall with a time of 11:04.19, while Kendall Hayes earned third with a time of 11:13.05. The men's event was won by
Robbie Perot, who shattered the Kresge Pool record of 10:02.76 to post a time of 9:57.78.
The women's 200-yard freestyle was next up as Grace Myers won with a time of 1:59.68, followed by Abby Whittington, who took third with a mark of 2:01.69. The men's event was won by White, who powered his way to victory in a time of 1:47.05. The Brewers dominated the women's 100-backstroke as Jesse Ecklund earned the win with a time of 1:01.11, while Randhawa was second with a mark of 1:01.17. The men's event saw rookie
Nick D'Arrigo earn second with a time of 58.30. Kaplan went on to earn third in the 100-yard breaststroke, while the men's event saw Pham earn second with a time of 1:02.71.
Lowenthal, the reigning Liberty League Rookie of the Week, picked up the victory in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:12.31, while the men's side was won by
Jake Mier, who touched the wall with a time of 2:00.01. Lautenbacher grabbed her own individual win in the 50-free, notching a time of 25.34, while the men's side saw
Matthew Imiolek take fourth with a time of 22.80.
Diving was up next as Evelyn Boyle won the women's 1-meter with a score of 171.05 points, while the men's 3-meter was won by
Sam Murphy with a score of 164.50 points, followed in second by
Laurence Barr-Forget with 144.60 points.
Back in the pool, action picked up in the 100-free as Whittington, Myers and Violet Witchel took second (55.50), third (55.66) and fourth (56.53) overall. Ecklund then captured victory in the 200-back with a time of 2:11.47, followed by Randhawa in second with a 2:12.30. The men's side saw White finish runner-up with a mark of 2:04.17. Kaplan finished second in the 200-breast with a time of 2:36.22, while the men's side saw
Anthony Cheng earn third with a time of 2:16.83.
The 500-free saw Healey earn third on the women's side with a time of 5:26.23, while the men's race was won by Perot, who touched the wall with a winning time of 4:50.19 to complete the distance race sweep on the evening. Lowenthal and Lautenbacher went 1-2 in the 100-fly with times of 59.29 and 1:00.77, respectively, while the men's side saw Mier in third with a 54.94.
Back on the boards, Boyle won the 3-meter event with a score of 176.55 points, while Murphy was the victor in the men's 1-meter with 194.70 points.
Lowenthal captured her third individual win of the day as the teams returned to the pool, winning the 200-individual medley in a time of 2:12.94, while the men's side saw Mier take third with a 2:05.29.
In the final event of the evening, the 400-yard freestyle relay, the Vassar women powered their way to first as Myers, Whittington, Lautenbacher and Ecklund combined for a time of 3:41.11, while the men's side saw the Brewers top foursome of Perot, Pham,
Brandon Li and White earn fourth with a time of 3:22.25.
Vassar is now idle until December 6-8 when it competes at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational. Action begins at 4pm on the Friday, followed by 10am starts (with several sessions) on Saturday and Sunday.
