Diver Stephen Savchik had a record breaking day in the pool as the University of Rochester men's swimming and diving team cruised to a 156-63 victory over Buffalo State on Saturday at the Speegle-Wilbraham Aquatic Center.

Savchik broke the school records for a six-dive meet on the 1-meter board, scoring 309.68 points, eclipsing his own previous mark of 301.27 set back in 2017.  The senior also posted two qualifying scores for the NCAA Zone Diving Regional meet, winning the 3 meter board as well with a score of 301.28 points.

Overall, the Yellowjackets (1-1) showcased their depth with 12 different swimmers posting victories, either individually or as part of a relay.

The loss is Buffalo State's third in a row (0-3) to start the season.

Joining Savchik as a double-winner were Jose Corredor Alvarez and Chris Bushnell.  Corredor Alvarez won the 500 freestyle in 4:57.99 and the 1650 freestyle in 16:43.01.  Bushnell meanwhile was a winner in the 200 IM (2:04.16) and was part of the 200 medley relay win in 1:41.03.  The rest of that relay was made up of Andrew Hodge, Kevin Liu and Trevor Hoch.

Eric Sonheim posted a one second win over Hoch in the 100 freestyle, touching in 48.02, while teammate Arpeet Dabhade earned the win in the 50 freestyle in 23.13 seconds.  Raahi Klar-Chaudhuri made it a clean sweep in the freestyle individual events, posting a 1st place finish in the 200 (1:50.84).

UR's other winners included Edward Domanico in the 200 butterfly (2:01.53), Brandon Kim in the 200 backstroke (2:00.72) and Matt Kiel in the 200 breaststroke (2:13.86).

Rochester's next meet is on November 9th at Alfred and is a tri-meet, also featuring Fredonia State.
