No. 13 Cortland Surges Past Women’s Lacrosse, 10-6

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Endicott women's lacrosse team fell to No. 13 nationally ranked Cortland, 10-6, on Friday evening at Washburn Field on the campus of Colorado College.

Katy Garvin (Mansfield, Mass.) and Carly Pierce (Exeter, N.H.) paced the Gulls with two goals apiece.

Kiana Napolitano (Revere, Mass.) and Katie Schenk (Southbury, Conn.) also potted solo tallies in the setback.

In goal, Lydia Akins (Edina, Minn.) stopped five shots to fall to 2-2 on the season.

Endicott led by scores of 5-4 (11:53, 3rd) and 6-5 (2:11, 3rd) late in the contest, but Cortland rattled off five straight goals to secure its third win of the year.

The Gulls jumped out to their first lead of the matchup, 5-4, behind a 4-0 run that spilled over into the third quarter.

Garvin jumpstarted the run with back-to-back goals in the second (6:04, 6:24), while Pierce (2nd, 2:51) and Schenk (3rd, 11:53, free position) capped the offensive spurt.

Napolitano was responsible for the Gulls' last lead on the scoreboard with a free position marker at the 2:11 mark of the third.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • Today's contest was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
  • Garvin produced her third multi-goal game of the season.
  • Pierce registered her second multi-goal contest of the 2023 campaign.
