DeVincent Field

Hank DeVincent

Hank DeVincent Field is a baseball field located on the campus of La Salle University. The field is home to the La Salle Explorers baseball team of the Division I Atlantic 10 Conference, the La Salle Field Hockey program and the La Salle Club Baseball team. The field holds a capacity of 1,000 fans. The playing surface at DeVincent Field, like McCarthy Stadium, is Sprinturf.

The field is named after Henry "Hank" DeVincent, who graduated in 1956. A member of the La Salle Hall of Athletes, he played soccer and ran track but was best known for his baseball career.

Hank DeVincent Field BackstopDeVincent is one of the only two numbers retired from the baseball squad, as his number eight hangs just to the right of the scoreboard next to Gene McDonnell's number nine. He is the only person in program history to have his number retired after only competing as a player.

During his career in the Blue and Gold, DeVincent batted over .400 and was named an All-American outfielder and was drafted upon graduation. He signed a bonus contract with the Cincinnati Reds, where he spent his professional career. He retired from professional baseball to attend medical school.
New Field
The diamond was dedicated on April 29, 1978. Sprinturf was installed following the 2006 season.

In 2019, "The Hank" received a full facelift as Sprinturf, the leading developer of synthetic turf systems, installed an all-new surface at the on-campus venue just in time for the field hockey and baseball teams to use it for the entire 2019-20 academic year. Behind field hockey lineuphome plate also received a new paint job with the La Salle "L" logo behind home plate and blue and gold lettering along the backstop.

DeVincent Field underwent a full removal of the old artificial turf in the summer of 2019, and replaced it with Sprinturf's DFE Extreme Field.

The field features a 330 micron plus monofilament and a 120 micron plus slit film. It is exclusively made in-house and in the United States of America. A sand and rubber infill artificial turf system, the DFE Extreme Field reaches the highest standards of durability and is also designed to increase safety and reduce the rate of player injury.
