THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Buffalo State – 6, Potsdam – 3
LOCATION: Maxcy Ice Arena – Potsdam, N.Y.
RECORDS: Buffalo State (2-1/1-0), Potsdam (0-4-1/0-4-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Potsdam opened the scoring with a lone marker in the first period, but failed to maintain its lead as Buffalo State evened the score less than five minutes later as Bryan Colburn (Cumberland, RI/Cumberland) scored his first goal of the season off assists by Jon Colley (Stouffville, ON/Stouffville District) and Reid Bibb (Gaithersburg/Gaithersburg).
  • The Bengals reclaimed the lead as Nikita Kozyrev (Tallinn, Estonia) notched his first collegiate goal, on assists from Charles Barber (Queensbury/Lake George) and Brendon Zack (Sarver, PA/Freeport Area), just over a minute into the second frame to give Buffalo State a 2-1 lead.
  • Buffalo State held an 11-9 advantage in shots on the goal for the remainder of the period, capitalizing on a power-play opportunity by Remers to extend its lead to 3-1 after 40 minutes of action. Hayden Ford (Medford, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) and Andrew Logar (Niagara Falls/Niagara-Wheatfield) earned assists on the play.
  • The Bears trimmed the lead back to 3-2 on a power-play goal just under five minutes into the third period.
  • Remers scored his second of the game, just a few minutes later, to push the lead back to 4-2 off assists from Kozyrev and Michael Anthony Guerrera (Montreal, Quebec/Ontario Hockey Academy).
  • Potsdam would score once more at the 11:17 mark of the period, before the Bengals tallied a pair of empty-net goals by Sam Maddox (St. Louis, MO/Lindburgh) and Vadim Vasjonkin (Tallinn, Estonia) to claim the victory.
  • Connor Minch (Machester, NH/Manchester Central) finished with 31 saves in net for the Bengals.
  • Buffalo State finished 2 of 6 on power-play opportunities, while holding the Bears to 1 of 6.

FOR THE FOES
  • Rob Clerc, Bryce Ferrell and Vinny Guimond all scored for Potsdam, while Michael Paglucca tallied 16 saves in net.
