PLATTSBURGH, NY - The Fredonia State women's basketball team picked up a 70-58 SUNYAC victory at Plattsburgh on Friday. Anna Chiacchia led the team with 21 points, while Katie Pitcher chipped in with 16, Lauren Mickley had 11, and Rae White had 10. Chiacchia and Mickley were each credited with a double-double, pulling down 11 rebounds apiece.

Pitcher added seven boards, six assists, and two blocks. Jayla James had eight points off the bench.
 
Chiacchia opened the scoring with a layup, and White nailed a three to give the Devils a 5-0 lead. They would lead wire-to-wire.

The Blue Devils led 18-12 after the first quarter, thanks to strong play from Chiacchia and Pitcher. The duo combined for 10 points, eight rebounds, and three assists in the first ten minutes of play. 
 
The Devils outscored Plattsburgh 12-5 in the second quarter. At the end of the first half, Fredonia State led 28-17. 

Both teams played an even second half, with 16 points apiece in the third quarter, and the Devils outscored Plattsburgh by one, 26-25, in the fourth. Fredonia State shot 67 percent (14-21) from the field in the second half.

For the game, the Blue Devils went 16-20 from the charity stripe, while Plattsburgh was 11-22. The Devils held a 46-35 edge in rebounds. Plattsburgh nailed seven threes compared to six by the Devils.

The win improves the Devils to 4-9 and completes the season sweep of the Cardinals, now 3-10, giving Fredonia State the upper hand in any potential tiebreaker for a post-season berth.

Fredonia State is now 8-12 overall, and take on Potsdam Saturday in a 2 p.m tip-off.
