Sylla's Season-High Propels Brockport Over Salisbury

Pittsburgh, PA – The College at Brockport men's basketball team took on Salisbury University on Sunday at the Carnegie Mellon DoubleTree Invitational. Brockport pulled out its third straight win, 75-69, improving to 3-1 overall.

Malick Sylla led all scorers with a season-high 18 points off the bench, shooting 7-for-9 from the floor. Tyler Collins did a little bit of everything with 10 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Justin Summers tallied 15 points and six boards, while Jahidi Wallace added 10 points and six boards as well.

The Green and Gold held an early advantage in the first half, going up 12-7 in the first five minutes of play. Salisbury would continue to battle, taking a one-point lead with 8:16 remaining until halftime. After trailing 25-19, Brockport would close the half on a 16-4 run to seize a six-point edge at half.

The lead would extend to as many as 11 points for the Golden Eagles early on in the second. The Sea Gulls would answer, tying the game up at 44-44 just a few minutes later. After several lead changes throughout the half, Brockport went up by seven points with 5:12 left in regulation, and did not surrender its lead through the final buzzer.

Brockport benefitted from four double-digit scorers in the contest and four players with at least five rebounds. The team scored 26 points off of 29 Salisbury turnovers. Sylla's season-high 18 points marks the third straight game he has produced at least 10 points from his reserve role.

Salisbury had three double-digit scorers in the loss, as Gary Briddell and D'Angelo Tull each finished with 14 points. Lucas Martin helped out with 11 points of his own, as the Sea Gulls are now 3-6 overall.
