New Paltz, NY – The SUNY Brockport women's basketball team fell to New Paltz on Saturday, 60-44. Brockport is now 9-12 overall and 6-8 in SUNYAC competition.
Erin Radack finished with a career-high 19 points in the contest, shooting 7-for-13 from the field.
Riqiya Harris tallied six points and 10 boards, while
Serena Sordetto recorded eight points and seven boards.
The first half was close the whole way through, as the score was tied at 10-10 with three minutes left in the first quarter. New Paltz was able to hold a two-point lead going into the second quarter. Radack hit two shots from long range in the second quarter, helping give Brockport a 20-18 lead. New Paltz went on a quick spurt to close the half, securing a 2-point edge at halftime.
The Hawks started to heat up in the third quarter, going up 40-27 with about two minutes left until the fourth quarter. A pair of jumpers from Radack cut into the New Paltz lead, as Brockport trailed by nine points heading into the final period. Sordetto finished at the rim twice midway through the fourth to keep the Green and Gold in striking distance. However, New Paltz would go on a run down the stretch to secure the win at home.
The Golden Eagles return home on Tuesday looking to bounce back against Fredonia. Game is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 pm.
