Buffalo, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team improved to 13-3 overall and 8-1 in SUNYAC competition Tuesday night with a convincing win over Buffalo State on the road. Brockport has now won six straight games after cruising to a 91-68 victory.
The Golden Eagles had four double-digit scorers on the night, as the bench contributed a season-high 50 points.
Tyler Sullivan led the team with 16 points, while
Tyree Grimsley added 15 points on 6-for-6 shooting. Both Sullivan and Grimsley recorded their highest scoring games as members of SUNY Brockport in the game.
Devante Hagins tallied 15 points, eight rebounds and two blocks in the contest.
Jahidi Wallace scored 12 points and grabbed five boards. After recently setting a new career-high of six steals,
Tyler Collins followed that up with five steals against Buffalo State.
The Green and Gold jumped out to an early 11-2 lead in the opening minutes of the first half. By the midway point of the first the team had a 16-point advantage over the Bengals. Buffalo State was unable to close the gap, as Brockport entered halftime with a 47-28 lead.
The second half saw Brockport in control much like the first. The team would lead by as many as 28 points in the second, making it look easy to secure the 23-point win on the road.
Brockport's bench outscored Buffalo States bench, 50-19, in the game. Demonstrating its ability to score in transition, the team also outscored its opponent 30-6 off of turnovers. The Green and Gold had 23 assists on 31 made field goals in the win, shooting 50.8% from the floor.
The Golden Eagles are back home this weekend for two big SUNYAC matchups. They host Potsdam at 7:30 pm on Friday before taking on Plattsburgh at 4 pm on Saturday.
