Buffalo, NY – The College at Brockport men's basketball team was on the road Saturday for a matchup against Medaille College. Brockport pulled out the win, 96-84, improving to 2-1 on the season.
Justin Summers led the way with 26 points, nine boards, and two blocks. Summers shot 9-for-15 from the field for an efficient night on offense. Three other players scored in double figures for the Green and Gold in the win.
Jahidi Wallace finished with 15 points and six boards, shooting 6-for-8 from the field.
Tyree Grimsley added 13 points of his own, while
Malick Sylla finished with 11. Sylla has now scored double-digits in two straight games.
With 12:46 on the clock in the opening half, the score was tied at 12-12. Brockport began to gain an advantage soon after, holding a nine-point lead with six minutes left until halftime. Medaille began to cut the lead, but
Davonte Jones would score just before half to give the team a 43-33 lead going into the locker rooms.
The Mavericks kept the game close with a run early in the second half, making the score read 57-52. Brockport would stretch its lead back to double-digits in the final ten minutes of regulation to take control of the game. Leading by as much as 14 points in the final half of play, the team would cruise to a 96-84 win away from home.
The Golden Eagles got it done in transition once again, outscoring Medaille on the fast break, 21-11, and in points off turnovers, 24-10. They also outrebounded the opposition 44-32 and earned 50 attempts from the foul line with aggressive takes to the basket.
Brockport heads to the Carnegie Mellon DoubleTree Invitational on December 1
st for its next contest. The team will matchup with Salisbury University for a 1 pm tip-off down in Pittsburgh, PA.
