Red Dragons Edge Lebanon Valley, 4-3, in Non-Conference Action

HERSHEY, PA.. – Sophomore Ethan Homitz (Allison Park, PA/New Hampshire Monarchs) scored two goals and added an assist, and senior Connor Beck (Richmond Hill, ON/Toronto Jr. Canadiens) added one goal and one assist to lead the Cortland men's hockey team to a 4-3 non-conference road win at Lebanon Valley Tuesday night.

Sophomore Ian Keller (East Meadow/New York PAL Islanders) also netted a goal for the Red Dragons (2-3), while senior Stefano Alonzi (King City, ON/Burlington Cougars), juniors Logan Blaser (Aurora, ON/Brockville Braves) and Tommy Ritchie (Spencerport/New York PAL Islanders) and sophomore Shane Beaulieu (Claremont, ON/Powassan VooDoos) each collected an assist. Freshman goalie Luca Durante (Brampton, ON/Aurora Tigers) made 32 saves to earn his first collegiate win.

Brad Viola led the Flying Dutchmen (1-4) with two goals and one assist. Justin Hall netted a goal, and Max Loga, Cole Hepler, Felix Takacsi-Nagy and Danny Galvez each contributed an assist. Goalie Henry Burns registered 18 saves.

Keller put Cortland ahead at 15:40 of the first period off assists from Ritchie and Beaulieu. Beck made it a 2-0 score at 5:29 of the second period before Viola's first goal of the game cut Cortland's lead to 2-1 at 9:13.

Homitz scored his first goal of the game at 4:12 of the third period, but Hall answered less than three minutes later to make it a 3-2 game. Homitz netted his second goal of the night at 14:46 off an assist from Blaser, and Cortland led 4-2 late in the period. Shortly after a Cortland penalty, Viola tallied a power-play goal for the Flying Dutchmen at 16:29 to bring Lebanon Valley to within 4-3. Burns was pulled for an extra skater with 2:16 remaining after another Cortland penalty, but Durante made two saves on the power-play chance for Lebanon Valley and sealed the win with a late save after the penalty expired.
