Golden Knights sweep swimming and diving

Results

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The SUNY Potsdam swimming and diving teams traveled across town to Clarkson University this Saturday. Then men fell to the Golden Knights 187-92 and the women bowed 164-112. 
 
The Bears women started out with a second place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with as senior Iris Curtis (Lewiston, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield), senior Allison Medley (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown), junior Cassandra Hunter (Castleton, N.Y./Maple Hill) and senior Samantha Coombs (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-Dewitt) posted a time of 2:12.75. Curtis then won an individual victory in the 100 Backstroke (1:12.69) and was second in the 200 Backstroke (2:39.51). Medley finished second in the 100 Breaststroke (1:23.83) and in the 200 Breaststroke (2:59.61). Coombs claimed victories in the 200 Free (2:16.82) and the 400 Free (4:58.33) and was second in the 100 Free (1:02.39). Junior Emily Pitz (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Millbrook) swam to a win in the 200 Butterfly (2:38.19) and was second in the 100 Butterfly (1:12.45). Freshman Sophia Frenyea (Johnstown, N.Y./Johnstown) took second in the 800 Free (11:09.35). Freshman Zoe Gliganic (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) swept the 1-meter and the 3-meter dives with scores of 191.40 and 175.30, respectively.
 
Sophomore Jake McCormack (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./ Poughkeepsie) placed second in the 100 Backstroke (1:07.75) and the 200 Backstroke (2:28.45).  Junior Ryan Hagadorn (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) won the 200 Breaststroke (2:34.85) and finished second in the 50 Free (25.09). Sophomore Davin Butler (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) was second in the 200 Butterfly (2:31.32) and the 100 Butterfly (1:05.30). Freshman Daniel Russotti (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) finished second in the 100 Breaststroke (1:12.05). Hagadorn and McCormack teamed up with junior William Stephens III (Medina, N.Y./Medina) and junior Andrew McEwen (Macedon, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) to win the 200 Freestyle relay in 1:44.14. 
 
The Bears wrap up the regular season on February 1, when they travel to Oswego State to compete at 1 p.m.
