Swim & Dive Teams Earn First Wins of the Season

OSWEGO, N.Y. - The Oswego State men's and women's swimming and diving teams both earned their first win of the season with dual meet victories over Oneonta.  The men took first in all 13 events to post a 148-92 win and the women showed their depth in defeating the Red Dragons 133-106.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Laker men had six different individual event winners and took home top honors in both relay events.
  • Seniors Ryan Kreuser (200-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke) and Nick Weber (1,000-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle) led the way with two individual event wins and a third victory in one of the relays.
  • Junior Walker Snowden (50-yard freestyle, 100-yard fly) and freshman Zachary Brown (200-yard IM, 100-yard breast) also won two and joined in on a successful relay.
  • Senior Alex Davie won the 100-yard freestlye (49.25) and took part in both winning relays.
  • Sophomore Brendan Beutel (200-yard Medley Relay) and Dennis Lelic (200-yard freestyle relay) also swam in the relays.
  • On the boards, Cameron Ellis won both the 1-meter event (250.43 pts) and the 3-meter (298.86 pts)
  • For the women, freshman Keaton Maring won a pair of freestyle events (100-yard, 200-yard) and led off the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team.
  • Kelsey Oliverio won the 50-yard freestyle (27.15 seconds) and helped in the 200-yard freestyle relay win.
  • Like Eliis, diver Meghan Maquet won both the 1-meter (202.28) and the 3-meter (213.30) events.
  • Senior Emily Ross got the first event win for the women with her time of 11:53.68 in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
  • Kayla Merrill and Allegra Neglia helped anchor the 200-yard freestyle relay team.
WHAT'S NEXT

The teams are back in action when they travel to Aurora, N.Y. for a 1 p.m. dual meet with Wells College next Saturday.
