BEREA, OHIO – The Oswego State men's baseball team lost their season opener to Heidelberg University by a score of 4-2. The Lakers put the leadoff man aboard in five of the nine innings, but could not covert the opportunities.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior Brendon Frank singled to center and advanced to second via stolen base in the first.
- After a strikeout, junior Ryan Enos walked to put two aboard and both advanced on a wild pitch.
- Lukas Olsson hit a sacrifice fly to center that plated Frank and advanced Enos before a strikeout ended the threat.
- Heidelberg took the lead with a pair of runs on three hits and a walk in the top of the third inning.
- Paul Tammaro reached third in the bottom of the inning by way of a bunt single, stolen base and wild pitch but the Lakers could not convert.
- The Student Princes added another with a single, sacrifice and RBI-base hit in the top of the fourth.
- Oswego cut the deficit to one with a triple from Rocco Leone and a sacrifice fly by Tammaro in the bottom of the fifth.
- Senior Nick DeMarco (0-1) went five innings while yielding a pair of earned runs.
- Heidelberg smacked a pair of doubles in the top of the seventh for another run to push the lead back to 4-2.
- In the eighth and ninth innings, Oswego put runners on first and second with only one out, but both rally attempts ended unsuccessfully.
- The Lakers had the leadoff batter on base in five of the nine innings but Heidelberg held the Lakers to 1-14 with runners on base.
- Senior pitcher Mike Di Salvo went the last four innings and only allowed the one run on a pair of hits.

The Lakers return to action Sunday with a 9 a.m. contest at Baldwin Wallace and a 12 p.m. game against LaRoche.
