CORTLAND, N.Y. – Senior
Megan Gonzalez (Miller Place) recorded a career-high seven points on a career-best four goals and three assists to lead the nationally 18th-ranked Cortland women's lacrosse team to an 18-6 victory versus Buffalo St. Saturday afternoon in the regular-season finale for both teams. The Red Dragons won their eighth consecutive game, improving to 13-4 overall and 8-0 in the SUNYAC, while the Bengals fell to 7-10 and 3-5.
Junior
Carly Stone (Syracuse/Jamesville-DeWitt) added three goals and an assist for Cortland. Sophomore
Lexie Meager (Syracuse/West Genesee) totaled five points on two goals and three assists, and seniors
Jaycie Annable (Navarino/Onondaga) and
Katie Wolfe (East Amherst/Williamsville North) each netted two goals.

Molly Newton (Skaneateles) registered one goal and three assists, junior
Hailey Dobbins (Syracuse/CBA) tallied one goal and one assist, and senior
Kristyn Drake (Tully), sophomore
Baylee Ojeda (Canandaigua/Canandaigua Academy) and freshman
Hannah Lorenzen (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) scored one goal apiece.

Paige Potter (Cortland) earned her first career start, making two saves in 35:41. Freshman
Annie Casey (Bay SHore) played the final 24:19 and stopped one shot. Dobbins finished with six ground balls, five draw controls and two caused turnovers. Wolfe won three draws and caused three turnovers, Gonzalez collected four ground balls, and Meager, Drake and senior
Carli Clementi (Huntington/Harborfields) each scooped up three ground balls.
Senior Christina Krowel (Amsterdam/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) led the Bengals with two goals and one assist. Juniors Kendall Skuse (Churchville/Churchville-Chili) and Morgan Hogue (Painted Post/Corning) each contributed one goal and one assist, and seniors Ally Ruggieri (Brockport) and Nina Schaefer (LaFayette) netted one goal apiece.
Senior goalie Elyse Stark (Lido Beach/Long Beach) made 16 saves. Junior Jackie Dufresne (Lake View/Frontier) won four draws and collected two ground balls, Hogue secured three draws and senior Emily Asip (Glen Cove) recorded three ground balls.
Cortland built a 9-3 lead at the half on the strength of three goals from Gonzalez and two goals each from Annable and Stone. Newton registered all three of her assists in the opening 30 minutes of play. The Red Dragons took control of the game with the first four goals of the second half from four different players for a 13-3 lead at the 23:15 mark. The Bengals netted two of the next three goals, but Cortland closed out the game with four of the final goals for the 18-6 final.
The Red Dragons return to action on Friday, May 4, when they host the "final four" of the SUNYAC Tournament, facing a team to be determined in the semifinals.
