Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Free Throw Shooting & Justin Summers' Double-Double Give Brockport a Win at Home

Brockport, NY – The College at Brockport men's basketball team played Hobart on Tuesday for the first home game of the season. The Golden Eagles improved to 1-1 on the season, earning the 75-74 victory over the Statesmen.

Justin Summers led the way for the Green and Gold, posting a 23 and 10 double-double. Jahidi Wallace finished with 14 points as he did most of his damage from the free throw line once again. Wallace shot 10-for-11 at the line, including two clutch shots with 11 seconds left in regulation to seal the win.

The first half was close the entire way, as the two teams traded leads. Tyler Sullivan splashed a three-pointer in transition, which sparked a quick 12-4 run to give the team a 24-19 lead with just over five minutes left in the first. Brockport would enter halftime with a 34-31 advantage.

Danny Ashely found Justin Summers on the first play of the second for a dunk, which captured some momentum for the Golden Eagles. They would go on to snag a 46-37 lead with 15:32 on the clock. The Brockport lead would reach its largest margin inside the 10-minute mark, getting as high as a 15-point edge over Hobart. The 3-point shot got the visiting Statesmen back into the game, making the score read 71-69 with less than two minutes in regulation.

Jahidi Wallace went 4-for-4 at the charity stripe in crunch time to keep control of the lead. Brockport held a 3-point lead heading into Hobart's final position of regulation. A missed 3-pointer from the Statesmen was tipped in at the buzzer, but Wallace's free throws secured the win for the Green and Gold.

Tyler Sullivan and Malick Sylla each scored 10 points in the win. The Golden Eagles shot 23-for-28 at the foul line and outscored Hobart 19-7 on the fast break. They pick up their first win of the year, bouncing back from a loss in the season opener.

Hobart was led by Dan Masino and Tucker Lescoe, who both poured in 18 points for the team. With the loss, the Statesmen are now 1-1 on the season.

Brockport gets back to the hardwood on Saturday, as the team travels to Medaille for more non-conference action. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 2 pm.
