BUFFALO, N.Y. -  The Hilbert College women's soccer team opened their 2018 season with an 8-0 loss to SUNY Potsdam in the first round game of the Spartan Showcase hosted by D'Youville College.

Brianna Stegmeier was credited with eight saves in the 90 minutes of action on the warm turf at Dobson Field in the lower westside of Buffalo.

Gina Mallone and Emily Gawlak posted one shot each as the Hawks were outshot 20-1 in the first 45-minutes of action.  The Bears finished the game with a 26-2 advantage in shots and 10-1 in corners.

Potsdam built a 7 goal advantage by intermission and tacked their final marker on in the 84th minute.

Hilbert returns to action tomorrow afternoon with a 2:30 pm battle against Waynesburg University.  Fans can follow live stats (HERE)
