HOUGHTON, N.Y. -- Rae White knocked down seven three-point baskets on her way to a game-high 23 points as the Fredonia State women's basketball team defeated Houghton 68-52 on Saturday. White was 7-of-12 from beyond the arc and added four assists to pace the Devils.

Anna Chiacchia added 14 points and Lauren Mickley had 11. Heaven Rollek led the team with six rebounds. Morgan Davis added nine points off the bench.

Houghton received 14 and 12 points, respectively, from the Cybart twins Hannah and Caitlyn, both Fredonia High grads.

The Devils jumped out quickly thanks to the hot hand of Mickley. She scored six of the game's first eight points aiding the Devils in an 8-0 lead. White's first three of the game would put the Devils up 13-3, their biggest lead of the quarter.

The Devils ended the first frame leading 17-11. They outscored the Highlanders in the second quarter, 12-9, to take a 29-20 lead into the break. 

Fredonia would outscore Houghton in both the final two quarters as well, keeping the hosts from mounting any real threat.

Houghton pulled within nine points, 53-44, midway through the fourth. The Devils clamped down scoring the next seven points to put the game on ice.

Fredonia outrebounded Houghton, 44-34, and collected nine steals to Houghton's two. The Devils were 10-of-11 from the line, including a perfect 5-of-5 from Davis. 

Fredonia evens its record at 4-4, while Houghton falls to 2-9. 

The Devils pick up play next Friday and Saturday when they travel to Oswego and Cortland for a pair of SUNYAC games.
