MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Mustangs picked up a non-conference shutout win on Wednesday night, defeating the Dutchmen from Lebanon Valley College 4-0.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Mustangs and the Dutchmen went shot for shot throughout the first period.
- Morrisville was the first to break through, picking up their first of two power play goals at the 16:32 mark.
- Ben Sprague (Norfolk, N.Y.) was the beneficiary, redirecting Nick DeVito's (Averill Park, N.Y.) shot into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. James Boisvert (Mansfield, Tex.) also picked up an assist on the play.
- The Mustangs held their 1-0 lead even as the tides changed with Lebanon Valley turning up their offensive pressure.
- Despite not putting as many shots on goal, the Mustangs made the most of their opportunities in the second period.
- Eric Melso (Philadelphia, Pa.) collected the puck off of Brendan Borg's (Grand Blanc, Mich.) blocked shot for his ninth goal of the season to give Morrisville the 2-0 advantage.
- Six minutes later, Jestin Somero (New Ipswich, N.H.) and DeVito got free on a 2v1 breakaway. DeVito drew the attention of the Dutchmen's defender on the left and hit Somero skating in from the right for the 3-0 lead.
- Morrisville extended their lead just under two minutes into the third, capitalizing on back-to-back penalties on Lebanon Valley. Melso notched his second of the game and tenth of the season with a re-direct from DeVito's shot from the right point.
- Jared Young (Pueblo West, Colo.) picked up the shutout, recording 30 saves for his eighth win of the season between the pipes.
WHAT'S NEXT
- The Mustangs will wrap up their non-conference slate on Saturday, January 11 with a road trip to Maine to take on the University of New England. Puck is set to drop at 4 PM.
