Nolan Propels Baseball Team to Victory

The Wells College baseball team relied on Dylan Nolan both offensively and defensively to take a thrilling 1-0 win over SUNY Oneonta on Monday, March 9.

Both teams entered the ninth inning scoreless with the Express at bat first. Nolan's double scored Tanner Dunkel for the only run Wells would need. However, the Red Dragons weren't ready to go quietly into the night as they loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth with just one out. After a Derek Shea strikeout, an Oneonta runner was caught stealing home after Nolan got the final putout to end the contest with a throw to Shea at the plate.

Shea took the win from the hill in relief after current North Eastern Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week Jared Strait threw seven innings of shutout ball. After almost a week off, the Express began its first win streak of the season at two after an 18-3 home-opener.

The Express finished the contest with a pair of hits with Kevin Spaeth joining Nolan as the team's hitters.

The Express will try to make it three-in-a-row when they play Vassar College tomorrow, March 10 at 3:30 p.m.
